Set ringer/media volume to max. The Pi needs to hear the tone clearly through ambient noise.

Chirp: 100 ms sweep 500→4000 Hz. Tap 5–10 times for chirp-based pair offsets.
Test Pattern: 5 s log sine sweep 200→16000 Hz. One tap is enough — gives ~30 dB more matched-filter SNR than a chirp and produces a single unambiguous arrival per mic, so cross-mic timing alignment is exact even when USB processing offsets are large.
Pi Feedback panel shows each mic's live Leq(A) and how many sweeps/chirps the Pi matched in the last 30 s. If a mic shows 0 detections after you play, it isn't hearing you.
